I’ve learned that some sessions are more than just photos, they’re stories you can feel.
She came to me not just as a client, but as a mother, a nurse, and the daughter of a journey that began in Vietnam. Her parents came from Vietnam for this photoshoot.
On the day of our shoot in Cornwall Park with the cherry blossom season, the light was soft, the air calm, one of those afternoons that feels almost still. The whole family was so excited for that day.
...
Tiny hands of her little daughter diving into frosting, laughter spilling out, curiosity in every movement, it was messy, joyful, completely unfiltered. The kind of moment you can’t pose, only witness. Cake smash sessions like this aren’t just about celebrating a milestone, but capturing a child’s personality as it unfolds.
As I stood behind the lens, I wasn’t just documenting a first birthday.
I was capturing three generations in one frame
a present grounded in love,
and a future just beginning.
And sometimes, that’s what photography really is, holding space for stories that deserve to be remembered.
